The name of the Ballhausplatz refers to a former "Ballhaus" at the opposite of secret Chancellory, where a kind of indoor tennis was played in the 18th century. "Ballhausplatz" is linked with the 250 years of Austrian politics that were "brewed" in the secret Chancellory. Today it is called the Federal Chancellory,(the seat of the Foreign Ministry).
