Votive Church was built by taking the French gothic churches as model in the second half on the 19th century. Votiv Church can be seen from the very central underground station Schottentor that leads to the University of Vienna's main buildings. In front of the Votive Church is the Freud Park where trees coming from the European Union member countries were planted as the symbol of the unity.
Votiv Kino, which is near by the Votive Church, is one of the best alternative cinemas, mostly presenting independent productions.
